As a young person, I enjoyed the limelight and did all to receive commendations from my superiors (enjoyed encomiums from superiors). I focused on myself, and developed many skills well enough to be a voice and a center of attraction. Among Friends as well though sometimes I stuttered but was quite outspoken (can argue) enough to command plenty of attention with a blend of being Jovial and Empathic. Funny enough, I was always the youngest in any class right from Secondary School through University, and even at the Workplace.
Lately, I have been asking myself where have the days gone? How did time fly so fast that I have become one of the oldest at my current workplace? Life is in stages, and at different times we have different roles. In my 16 years of work experience, spent mostly in Digital, IT, Marketing, Sales, and lately Production, I have come to realize that humans must evolve to stay relevant and that you cannot be a champion forever, you must learn to share the spotlight with others.
In the last few months, I have found knowledge sharing and mentoring as one of my most fulfilling hobbies, as I spend more time doing Career Guidance for my younger colleagues. I have come to believe that the greatness of a champion is how many “Greater” Champions he can raise.
Likewise, I understand that the people who are most relevant share their successes with others.
Life can be fun if we accept our transient roles and flow efficiently
